Intrigued by Cindy Sherman's chef d'oeuvre from the untitled film Still, I decided to do a replica of the photograph # 21 which caught my eye. In it, Cindy is in front of two beautiful skyscrapers. But what is so interesting about the picture is her facial expression, she looked sad or upset.
The selfie above could be interpreted in so many ways. First, viewers are going to assume that the message I am trying to send is the cold temperature. Indeed, we were in the sub-zeros when this picture was taken. But I wanted to put an emphasis on the location and my whereabouts. With a little improvisation, I blurred the background to add a little ambiguity in order to invite the viewers to think about the location.
