In Susan Sontag’s “On Photography” article there were many quotes that stuck out to me but only one had caught my eye. That quote was “Movies and television programs light up walls, flicker, and go out; but with still photographs the image is also an object, lightweight, cheap to produce, easy to carry about, accumulate, store.” I thought this picture was a perfect representation of this quote. You have about two things in this picture that represents what Sontag was talking about the first one being when she brought up how all the different movies, programs all light up the walls and the perfect place for that was nothing other than New York City. We sometimes take pictures next to either a beautiful scenery or wall art without realizing that most of the time we are promoting advertisements. The photo I provided makes it seem like I am standing around and selling all the different endorsements. The second thing is the still image that I took that it can be stored, saved, and looked back at as a memory. Images tell so many stories and New York happens to become a place where most of my memories are made with my friends and family.
